Day 1: Moshi – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Elevation Gain: 900m
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest
After breakfast in Moshi, drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m) where you’ll register and meet your mountain crew. The trek begins through a lush rainforest filled with birdlife and playful colobus monkeys. The well-maintained trail gradually ascends to Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop. In the afternoon, take a short walk to Maundi Crater for panoramic views of Kenya and the surrounding forest.
Overnight: Mandara Hut (shared dormitory-style hut)

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Elevation Gain: 1,020m
Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
Habitat: Heath and Moorland
Today’s trek begins with a final stretch of rainforest before transitioning into the heath and moorland zone. The trail opens up, revealing giant lobelias and views of Mawenzi Peak. You’ll slowly ascend, allowing your body to begin acclimatizing. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the late afternoon, where you’ll settle in and enjoy a warm meal.

Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Elevation Gain: 980m
Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
A challenging but rewarding day. The trail passes the last water point and crosses the lunar-like saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The landscape becomes stark and dry, with incredible views in every direction. By early afternoon, arrive at Kibo Hut, where you’ll rest, hydrate, and prepare for your midnight summit attempt.
Overnight: Kibo Hut
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


Day 4: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut
- Elevation Gain: 1,195m (ascent), 2,175m (descent)
- Hiking Time: 12–14 hours total
- Habitat: Arctic to Moorland


Day 5: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Moshi
- Descent: 1,860m
- Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
- Habitat: Moorland to Rainforest
